I have an appointment next week for an annual physical at the VA San Diego. This morning I went in and got my blood drawn and such in advance of my appointment.
Isn't that a sensible way of doing things that allows the laboratory time to run the tests and have the results in the electronic medical record BEFORE the physical?
The answer is yes.
This morning the lab was short-staffed, missing one technician, so I was there for two hours waiting. No, I am not complaining. For most care, I much prefer VA medical care over my civilian HMO care. I hope the bad politicians do not change it to give us "CHOICE."
When they start talking about choice in your health care you must also listen closely for the word privatization. Currently approximately one-third of our Medicare beneficiaries have opted for choice and selected 'Medicare Advantage' health plans. The powers that are purchasing our republic continue to advertise heavily on TV to reach the other two-thirds of the Medicare enrollees. Medicare Advantage plans save on out-of-pocket medical and drug costs by limiting CHOICE.
Thank you, President Lincoln, for your speech that planted the seed for the idea of veterans benefits!
